Service Description: You Must Report Child Abuse or Neglect

In Ontario, everyone, including members of the public and professionals, is required by law to report suspected child abuse or neglect
  • The duty to report applies to any child who is, or appears to be, under 16 years old
  • If you have reasonable grounds to suspect that a child may be in need of protection, you must report it right away
  • You do not need proof, if you are concerned, it is okay to call

HOW TO REPORT



If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 right away

Report to Halton Children’s Aid Society (CAS)
  • 905-333-4441
  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

If the situation is urgent and you cannot reach Children’s Aid, contact Halton Regional Police Service
  • 905-825-4777 ext. 8970
