You will join CMH as we embrace a new era of care, expanded services and innovation. Construction is underway of a modern 5-storey tower and total renovation of all existing inpatient care and clinical support areas. Upon completion, our new hospital  will contain:

  • Patient care areas that are doubling in size, including larger surgical suites to accommodate advanced minimally invasive surgical equipment and an Emergency Department with dedicated treatment areas for mental health and different surgical subspecialties
  • A patient-centred building design that promotes healing and intuitive wayfinding, while maximizing natural lighting and sight lines to the natural beauty of the Grand River
  • An increase in beds from 143 to 197 to accommodate expanded services like Surgery, Mental Health and Intensive Care. About 80% of inpatient rooms will be single occupancy to meet the latest infection control and building code standards for hospitals


Position:  Clinical Coordinator - Mental Health

Region:  Cambridge & Area

Description:  

The Mental Health Clinical Coordinator, in partnership with the Manager Mental Health, mentors and coaches staff responsible for day to day patient care, working with Physicians and other health care professionals across the hospital to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to patient care is achieved.

 

Under the supervision of the Manager Mental Health, the Clinical Coordinator promotes a safe patient focused environment through the implementation of evidenced-based practice, and continuous quality improvement including developing, implementing and monitoring performance indicators.  The Clinical Coordinator works with the Manager, medical leaders and director providing leadership, operational supervision and oversight to the mental health program. The Clinical Coordinator facilitates day to day operations collaborating with nursing, allied health professionals, physicians and management. 

  

She/he assists in the development of corporate clinical and operational priorities in the supervision of patient care in the inpatient Mental Health unit. Participates with all health care team members in formulating and implementing policies, procedures and standards necessary to provide excellence in Schedule 1 mental health service environment while analyzing and promoting evidence based practice in psychiatry. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN or undergraduate degree required
  • Canadian Nursing Certification in Psychiatric Nursing Certificate
  • Master’s degree in Health Services preferred 
  • Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario required
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, curriculum design, learning technologies and facilitation skills 
  • Advanced practice knowledge in all areas of Psychiatry
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Awareness of issues and trends in mental health care and their implication to the delivery of health care services for a community hospital
  • Knowledge of capacity building, current and potential community partners and community issues
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
