Service Description: Community-based organization that assists police and emergency services to provide short term emotional support and practical assistance to victims of crime, trauma and tragic circumstances.

On-site early intervention and crisis intervention * safety planning * referrals to community services * provision of cellular telephones for eligible victims * system navigation for vulnerable victims

Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) -- immediate assistance with emergency expenses related to the incident, including emergency home safety, accommodation, meals, transportation, dependent care costs, counselling, cellular phones, vision care, crime scene cleanup, and funeral expenses * no direct reimbursement to victims
Service priorities include * homicide / attempted murder * serious physical assault * domestic violence * sexual assault * hate crime * human trafficking

Project Lifesaver: provides wrist transmitters to individuals who may wander due to cognitive impairment * suitable for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, autism, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (VSW partners with Wellington County OPP and Guelph Police Service)

Spira Fire Victim Relief Fund: financial aid for those experiencing material loss due to a residential fire and are uninsured

Fees: Project Lifesaver: $400 initial charge for transmitter bracelet * $10 for battery replacement * fee assistance available - contact Victim Services for information
