Service Description: Local affiliate responsible for implementation of the Habitat for Humanity home building program.

Activities include:
  • volunteer labour / donations of funds and materials used to build homes in partnership with low income families, seniors and individuals with disabilities in need of safe and affordable homes
  • homes sold at no profit through interest-free mortgage
  • Habitat homeowners required to contribute up to 500 hours of sweat equity

**Also operates retail outlet called the ReStore that supports construction of Habitat homes

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Volunteers must be 14 years of age to work in the ReStore and 16 years of age to work on a home build site.

To qualify for homeownership, the following criteria must be met:
* the need for decent, affordable housing
* ability to pay a modest mortgage
* willingness to volunteer 500 “sweat equity” hours
