Service Description: Provides emergency housing and shelter for males and females:
  • THE STEPPING STONE emergency shelter - emergency food and housing for men for 21 days; referrals to social workers and community services (mental health, addictions, financial assistance depending on the needs of the individual); after hours call 519-837-0633
  • ELIZABETH PLACE - emergency, overnight accommodation to women and children up to age 12; duration of stay limited to one month, no cost; meals provided; within walking distance of downtown; after hours call 519-829-2844

**A shelter overflow process exists - no one is turned away

Will assess individuals for eligibility to receive assistance with heating bills through the Union Gas Winter Warmth program. Program runs all year. May assist individuals with rent and food.

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Winter Warmth Fund: low-income families living at / below the poverty line who have exhausted all other sources of financial support. Approved households receive a one time grant.
